Social Freezing<\/strong> refers to the precautionary freezing of unfertilized oocytes in order to preserve the possibility of pregnancy at a later time. For women who are currently unable or unwilling to realize their wish to have children, creating an oocyte reserve<\/strong> can be a sensible option. <\/p>

Female fertility decreases with increasing age. From around the mid-30s, this decline becomes more pronounced. Not only does the number of available oocytes decrease, but also their quality. In particular, the proportion of oocytes with chromosomal abnormalities increases with age. <\/p>

If oocytes are frozen at a younger age, their age-dependent quality at the time of freezing is preserved. Social Freezing can therefore improve the chances of a later pregnancy with one’s own oocytes when a natural pregnancy is no longer possible at that time. <\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

As a general rule: the younger a woman is at the time of freezing the oocytes, the higher their quality is on average. In Switzerland, oocytes may only remain frozen for 10 years.
