If pregnancy does not occur despite regular unprotected intercourse over a longer period, a clarification may be advisable. As a guideline: for women under 35, a clarification is usually recommended after about one year; from 35 years of age, already after about six months. In cases of irregular cycles, known pre-existing conditions, endometriosis, previous surgeries, or a restricted spermogram, earlier consultation may be beneficial.
During the first appointment, we take the time to learn about your personal situation, your medical history, and your previous examinations and treatments. Together, we discuss which further clarifications are advisable. These may include, for example, an ultrasound examination, hormone analyses, checking fallopian tube patency, or a spermogram. Subsequently, we develop an individual treatment plan with you. You are welcome to send us your previous findings in advance or bring them to the appointment.
Depending on the cause and personal situation, various treatments may be considered – from cycle monitoring and hormonal stimulation to insemination, IVF, and ICSI. Social Freezing and Preimplantation Genetic Testing (PGT) are also part of our treatment spectrum. We decide which method is appropriate together after a careful clarification.
At our Zurich location, we conduct fertility clarifications, gynecological examinations, ultrasound controls, hormonal stimulations, and inseminations. IVF and ICSI treatments, as well as treatments requiring an IVF laboratory, are performed at our Pfäffikon SZ location.
The chances of success depend on various factors – particularly the woman’s age, egg reserve, the cause of the unfulfilled desire to have children, sperm quality, and the chosen treatment. Therefore, a personal probability of success can only be meaningfully assessed after an individual clarification. We discuss your chances transparently and realistically with you.
In Switzerland, certain clarifications, 12 cycles with hormonal stimulations, and three inseminations for an unfulfilled desire to have children are covered by mandatory health insurance, provided the corresponding conditions are met. IVF and ICSI are generally not covered by basic insurance. Before starting a treatment, we will inform you transparently about the expected costs.
No. Women over 40 can also seek advice and treatment from us. However, the number and quality of eggs decrease with increasing age, which reduces the probability of pregnancy. Therefore, an individual assessment is particularly important. We openly discuss with you what possibilities exist and which treatment may be appropriate for your personal situation.
